Program Description

Event Details

In 2018, Ford Motor Company purchased a set of historic buildings across 30 acres in Corktown, Detroit - including the 1913 Michigan Central Railway Terminal. After pumping 3.5 million gallons of water from the long-flooded basement of the Station, a massive 6-year, $950 million, renovation project began. As part of Bill Ford's expansive vision for the Station's rebirth, a group of local artists and curators began to envision what a campus-wide Civic Art program might look like in the new Michigan Central Innovation District. Mark Higbie, who served as a senior advisor to Ford Motor Company for 18 years, will offer insights into how Art - both classical, renegade, and future-looking - is playing in the Station's long and colorful history - past, present, and future.
