In the 1920's and 30's,  Grosse Pointe investors whose names we still recognize, such as the Alger's, Newberry's, Joy's, and Gar Wood had an association with the Packard Motor Car Company.  

Their resulting legacies are still central to GP life.   The War Memorial, Crescent Sail Yacht Club,  Memorial Church, Country Club of Detroit, and over 100 years of hydroplane racing along our shores where the world witnessed dozens of record breaking speeds powered by Packard's formidable 12 cylinder engines. 

  Miss America X  is still on display at the Packard Proving Grounds Museum in Shelby Twp.
